Why are there mean people on earth? Why when you try your hardest to appease someone they find another reason to pick at you. I try to be the best version of myself all the time, but sometimes I can't make everyone happy, can't keep all my friends, can't keep extending myself trying to help others. How much is too much? When you get walked over so many times when do you say enough is enough?

summer!
While although I am stuck indoors doing homework and dreading tests due to my summer course load, this summer is bursting with fun opportunities as I explore the outdoors. I journeyed to the river with a few close friends as well as my little/summer roomie. We basked on its banks and took periodic dips in the cool mountain water. We watched large crowds float down the river on tubes, something I really wanted to do, but the people we were with were content under the summer sun. This was fine by me because my last tubing experience involved the rescue of a friend from rapids and an encounter with a water snake. But regardless it's still on my list of things outdoorsy to do this summer. My other summer to do's include: fishing, boating of some sort, hiking, camping, pool lounging, jogging, and anything else that pops into my schedule. My summer also includes my first trip to Smith Mountain Lake, as well as probable road trips to DC or NYC. A few of my friends from back home have also promised to visit and I'm excited to show them my school and life here. So all in all summer is a time to celebrate nature and venture outside with people you love. [Follow me on twitter (caseykelbs) to keep up with my summer goals]

sisterhood.
So recently I have decided to get more involved with spending time with the people I haven't seen in a while. I went to lunch with my roomate, attempted to go out with a friend I miss terribly, and watched an addicting TV show with another friend. Two out of three of these girlfriends were sisters.
And that's what sisterhood is, spending time with people you generally love. While sometimes it may be nerveracking to live in a house full of women, I can say that quality time with sisters, not just friends, makes an emotional day a whole lot better. When boys become a distraction and you need to get back to your roots, your sisters are always there for you. Not every sister will be considerate or able to hold in a secret but when you find women that can do all of these things and more, you need to never take them for granted. Just when everything in your world seems to be falling apart, my sisters have always been there to liberate me.
While to most "I pay for my friends" to me I am apart of something bigger than myself or my campus. I am connected to women nationwide (and even in Canada).
Stay connected,
CK

homework overload.
I have recently been so overloaded with homework and projects it seems like the work will never end! I wish I could drop out of school and still get a good job, but I know that will never happen so I keep on keeping on. Maybe one day all the tests and projects and papers will be worth it, but that day is not today.
I also did course request yesterday and I realized that to stay on track I would have to take on 18 credits of insanely challenging coursework, not including my 2 summer sessions. I guess that's what happens when your an Engineer.
I'm trying to stay positive and hope you can too!
Holding on for dear life,
